My Doctor just recommended I get surgery for my ongoing knee pain. Is there any way to avoid this surgery, or at least prepare my body for healing?

Yes!  While the cause of your knee pain has an organic source, there is a lot you can do to help yourself heal.

Only you can decide if surgery is for you.  Getting a second opinion and consulting with main stream as well as alternative health care professionals who specialize in your condition and pain control are all options that you might well consider.

In the meantime, I highly recommend that you consult you physician about prescribing Medical Hypnosis as part of your pain management plan.

Hypnosis is highly effective in managing discomfort and pain of all kinds while allowing your body to continue signaling you to avoid certain activities and dealing with the mental and emotional effects of prolonged or acute pain.

Medication works in one of two ways.  It masks pain or alleviates the cause of the pain.  Analgesics such as aspirin, reduces inflammation, which how it gets rid of your headache.  Narcotic analgesics not only reduce inflammation but also mask pain.  The general effect is known as euphoria; that floating, drowsy or “dopey” feeling.  You might still feel pain but you’re less able to fully engage in resisting it.

While medication can be very effective in managing pain, there are the inevitable side effects, most of which are unpleasant.  Many people find the state of so called euphoria very disconcerting.  To them it feels unsafe to engage in normal, everyday activities such as drive a car or care for their children.  This, along with the pain, robs them of the enjoyment of life, which can and does result in measurable depression, sometime severe enough to indicate further medication.

Large doses or prolonged use of medication can have serious physical side effects of their own; liver damage, ulcers, kidney damage not to mention possible addiction.

Medical Hypnosis neither masks pain nor causes any adverse side effects.  An apt subject under the guidance of a skilled hypnotherapist can expect to:

a)     lower or eliminate the need for large doses of medication

b)     reduce the dosage and/or prolonged use of medication

c)      alleviate or eliminate the harsh side effects of necessary medications

d)     in some instances, eliminating the need for pain medication entirely

e)     reduce or eliminate the psychological ramifications of pain, such as depression

f)        eliminate the need for additional medication to treat the psychological ramifications of pain

g)     reduce or eliminate stress associated with pain, thereby allowing the body to heal itself and accelerate healing

More over, Medical Hypnosis has been used as a replacement for anesthesia in major surgeries, including deep tissue surgery, child birth & c-section, dental surgery as well as numerous types of minor procedures with great success.

Anesthetists are often astounded at how little anesthesia is needed for those who use hypnosis in addition to surgical protocol and the attending physicians and nurses report astonishingly fast recovery times.  Often the patient is ambulatory as soon as they awake reporting little discomfort and no pain – all without additional medication.

How is this possible?  It has been said that the human mind is the best pharmacy on earth.

·           Medical Hypnosis unleashes the power of the mind to release the body’s natural pain suppressing chemicals as well as triggering other systems that alleviate or eliminate pain.

·           Medical Hypnosis allows the brain to ignore unnecessary nerve signals so that, while you might be aware of an injury, even a severe one, the pain signals are reduced to a minimum; just enough to keep you safe from further injury.

·           Medical Hypnosis permits your mind and body to work in unison to control pain and speed healing.

While your surgery might be necessary, the adverse reactions to pain are not.
